1.Accepting these terms
By using the Refze website or app, or by creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy & Data Statement. If you're using Refze on behalf of a league, club, or school, you confirm you're authorized to accept these terms for that organization. If you don't agree, please don't use Refze.
2.Who can use Refze
You need to be able to form a binding agreement to hold a paid or administrative account. Referees who are minors use Refze only after their league invites them, and the league is responsible for any consents required for a minor to participate. Refze is intended for organizing sports officiating, not for personal or unrelated use.
3.Accounts & security
- Keep your login details confidential — you're responsible for activity under your account.
- Your master administrative key (if you operate a deployment) protects your whole system; keep it secret and rotate it if it's ever exposed.
- Give us accurate information, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access at [email protected].
4.Plans, payment & refunds
- Free tier. Leagues and assignors can use Refze's free tier within its limits.
- Paid plan (Pro). $9.99/month or $99/year, billed through our payment processor (Stripe). Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- Referees never pay. Officials always use Refze at no cost.
- Cancelling. You can cancel anytime; access continues to the end of the paid period. Unless required by law, payments already made are non-refundable.
- Price changes. We may change plan prices; changes apply to future billing periods and we'll give reasonable notice. Existing subscriptions keep their price until renewal.
- Taxes. Prices exclude taxes unless stated; you're responsible for any applicable taxes.
5.Referee accounts
Referees are invited by a league and sign in to the app with their email and password, a magic link, or Google. A referee's single account works across every league that assigns them. Referees are responsible for keeping their availability and responses accurate; leagues rely on that information to fill games.
6.Acceptable use
When using Refze, you agree not to:
- Break the law, or use Refze to harass, threaten, or harm anyone;
- Upload malicious code, attempt to breach security, or disrupt the service;
- Scrape, resell, or misrepresent the service, or reverse-engineer it except where the law permits;
- Impersonate others or provide false information;
- Use the service to spam, or to post content you don't have the right to share.
We may suspend or remove access that we reasonably believe violates these terms or puts others at risk.
7.The anonymous board
Our public Q&A board lets people ask and answer officiating questions anonymously. Posts are moderated and pass anti-spam checks, but content is user-generated and we don't endorse it. Don't post anything unlawful, hateful, defamatory, or that identifies a minor inappropriately. We may edit, hide, or remove posts, and posts that are reported enough times are hidden automatically. Keep it useful and kind.
8.Your content & data
You keep ownership of the data you put into Refze (your schedules, officials, and posts). You grant us the limited permission needed to host and operate the service for you — for example, to store and display your data so the product works. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy & Data Statement. You're responsible for keeping your own records; where a feature relies on data held only in your browser session, treat your own spreadsheet or export as the source of record.
9.Our intellectual property
Refze, its name, logo, software, and content are owned by Refze and protected by law. These terms don't transfer any of our intellectual property to you; you get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while you comply with these terms.
10.Availability & changes
We work to keep Refze available and reliable, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these terms. If we make a material change, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, note it on the site. Continuing to use Refze after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11.Disclaimer of warranties
Refze is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the service will be error-free or that results (such as filling every game) are guaranteed.
12.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Refze is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (or, if you're on the free tier, a nominal amount). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.
13.Termination
You can stop using Refze and close your account anytime. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. On termination, your right to use Refze ends; sections that by their nature should survive (like ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) continue to apply.
14.Governing terms & disputes
These terms make up the agreement between you and Refze regarding the service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. Where a dispute arises, we ask that you first contact us so we can try to resolve it directly. The governing law and venue are those applicable to Refze's operating entity; nothing here removes rights you have under mandatory consumer laws in your location.
